Toll reimbursement
For journeys taken within the period from 28 October 2020 to 30 September 2021, the truck toll can be reimbursed on a pro rata basis.
-
The claim only arises on the date the law entered into force, i.e. from 1 October 2021.
The claim is limited to the period from 28 October 2020 up to and including 30 September 2021. The application should only be submitted once all toll statements for the entire period are available. Care should be taken to ensure that the application and documentation to be submitted are complete. Details can be found on the BALM website.
-
The Federal Logistics and Mobility Office (BALM) has made available an electronic form, which must be used to submit the application, on an online platform.
-
The toll statements for the journeys listed in the application should be attached, as should an enforcement form, as well as a power of attorney if you are representing somebody else. The itemised journey list should not be attached to the application. However, the kilometres travelled per licence plate number and weight class should be stated in the application for the purposes of verifying the claim. To perform the calculation, the user requires the itemised journey lists from their user account; these should therefore be retained during the claim application period. Journeys for up to 20 licence plate numbers can be claimed for in one application form.
-
Toll Collect makes the itemised journey lists from the last three months available to you. The itemised journey lists are continuously made available to you in your user account.
The BALM does not need the itemised journey lists. However, if possible the applicant should state the kilometres travelled per licence plate number and weight class in the application for the purposes of verifying the claim. This is not a mandatory requirement for the claim, however.
-
Only the toll statements are required for your application.
However, the kilometres travelled per licence plate number and weight class should be stated in the application for reimbursement for the purposes of verifying the claim. The number of kilometres travelled can only be found in the itemised journey lists, but not the toll statements. This is why you should retain the itemised journey lists. Even if the kilometres are not entered in the application for reimbursement, you can still submit the application via the online platform on the BALM website.
-
The itemised journey lists are deleted after 120 days. By this time, the toll statements have been paid and no complaint has been made. This provision derives from the German Federal Trunk Road Toll Act (BFStrMG), which also regulates the erasure of data.
-
The user should enter the kilometres travelled per weight class for the purposes of verification (especially in cases of change of ownership with the same licence plate number). To do this you should use your itemised journey lists in your user account, which you can sort and add up. This information is intended to help with preparing your application. It is not a mandatory requirement, however. Toll statements that cover the entire application period are required.

The application can be submitted until 31 December 2023.
