The 100,000th vehicle for TOLL2GO, the German-Austrian toll service, was registered today. In September 2015, ASFINAG, the Austrian toll operator, and Toll Collect GmbH, who are responsible for toll collection in Germany, extended their successful cooperation, which began in 2011, by a further three years.
TOLL2GO provides the largest offer of toll services in Europe that cooperates/collaborates interoperably, i.e. beyond national borders and system boundaries. The benefits: An On-Board Unit (from Toll Collect) for Germany and Austria is all that is necessary. Changing from the Austrian GO Box to Toll Collect's On-Board Unit is free.
The increasing numbers for the TOLL2GO toll service show that the service is especially attractive for all transport companies whose vehicles frequently travel in Austria and Germany. The innovation of this service is that it is possible for the first time to establish interaction between a microwave-based toll system and a satellite-based toll system.
With the start of the toll requirement for vehicles and vehicle combinations with a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 7.5 tonnes and higher in Germany from 1 October 2015, the number of registrations for the service significantly increased once again. In the last few months of 2015, an average of 500 vehicles a week were registered for TOLL2GO, twice as many vehicles as before. Of the 100,000 vehicles that have now been registered, more than 45,000 of them come from Germany. In second place is Poland with 12,000 trucks and then the Czech Republic with almost 10,000 trucks. Around 2,200 Austrian vehicles use TOLL2GO. In total, trucks from more than 9,000 transport and logistics companies from 41 countries are registered for the toll service.
Registration for the TOLL2GO toll service can be done directly with ASFINAG at www.go-maut.at via the fully automated SelfCare Portal.
