Enforcement on federal trunk roads

Enforcement pillars check compliance with the toll requirement on the federal trunk roads.

A truck driving on a federal trunk road drives past a blue Toll Collect enforcement pillar.

The enforcement pillars check passing vehicles subject to toll. In Germany, there is a toll requirement on motorways and federal trunk roads for vehicles and vehicle combinations of 7.5 tonnes or more gross vehicle weight. Only data from vehicles suspected of paying the toll incorrectly or not at all will be sent to the control centre.

The pillars are not speed cameras.

Compared to the enforcement gantries on motorways, the pillars take up significantly less space and blend in better with the countryside. The pillars are coloured so as to rule out confusion with speed enforcement.

In addition to the pillars, mobile enforcement by the Federal Logistics and Mobility Office checks compliance with the toll requirement on federal trunk roads.
