From 1 July 2026, the classification of trucks with a TPMLM of more than 16 tonnes into CO₂ emission classes will change. This is due to new EU regulations that were adopted in December 2025.
Simply reducing the Technically Permissible Maximum Laden Mass (TPMLM) without making any technical modifications to the vehicle is not permitted and will not be taken into account for the toll requirement. This has been confirmed by the Higher Administrative Court of Berlin-Brandenburg (OVG 9 S 11/24).
