Invoicing and toll statement

  • In the Toll Collect customer portal, you can retrieve your journeys since the last toll invoice. Similar to the itemised journey list, each partial journey is listed individually for each vehicle. You can retrieve the journeys according to date or for each vehicle, for example. Additionally there are different filter functions with which you can organise the information as you need, download it in csv format and save it.

  • The toll is calculated on the basis of the distance travelled by the vehicle and a toll rate in cents per kilometre, which includes a share for the CO₂ emissions, air pollution, noise pollution and infrastructure costs incurred.

You can find additional information here .

  • The toll is a levy under public law and therefore not subject to VAT. (However, if a haulier charges the cost of the toll to its customers, the corresponding amount is subject to VAT).

  • Registered Toll Collect customers receive a toll statement once a month. The itemised journey list can also be requested. You can find further information on the "Invoicing" page.

  • The toll is a charge levied by the Federal Republic of Germany for the use of motorways. Toll Collect's sole task is to determine the charge for you, collect your payment and forward it to the German government. Therefore, Toll Collect provides information about the toll amounts incurred and payable and does not issue "invoices" or "fee notices" in the legal sense.

  • Possible differences on the toll statement can be attributed to commercial rounding of the toll amounts per route section. From a mathematical point of view, the minimal differences caused by rounding are balanced out again for longer journeys – journeys with many individual sections.

You can find an example to illustrate this effect here .

  • Invoices are issued per registered customer. However, the amounts per vehicle can be seen from the toll statement.

  • The individual number of kilometres may deviate from that stated by the speedometer of the truck, because toll collection is based on standardised route sections and not the actual kilometres travelled. The individual route section lengths were measured by the German government for this purpose. This information is available under www.mauttabelle.de .

  • If you believe that a invoicing error has occurred or if you have any questions, please contact Toll Collect in writing. If possible, please enclose relevant evidence.

  • Based on the toll table of the German Federal Highway Research Institute, the toll is collected section by section, with technical precision and commercial transparency. The price is calculated to the third decimal place. The amounts are then commercially rounded, i.e. up to 5 is rounded down, from 5 is rounded up. Only then are the individual section prices added to the total distance price. The aim of this procedure is to ensure that every toll customer pays the same price for a route section, regardless of the total length of the distance travelled.

    To the rounding example
  • Yes, Toll Collect is a service provider for the Federal Republic of Germany and the process for toll calculation on the basis of fixed road journeys, as well as commercial rounding, is agreed with the contracting entity.
