On 1 July 2024, a toll requirement will be introduced for vehicles with a technically permissible maximum laden mass (TPMLM) of more than 3.5 tonnes. We recommend that you install an on-board unit (OBU) as the simplest way to pay the toll. To do this, the vehicle must first be registered with Toll Collect or an EETS provider.
Please note: the availability of installation dates currently varies depending on the location of the workshops. Please also consider service partners in the surrounding area. If your OBU is not installed until after 1 July, you can also use the Toll Collect app or the Toll Collect website to book and pay for your journeys.
Tradesperson exemption — are you exempt?
Vehicles used by trade businesses are exempt from the toll under certain conditions.
On the Toll Collect website, trade businesses can register vehicles with a Technically Permissible Maximum Laden Mass of more than 3.5 and less than 7.5 tonnes that are on the road and meet the requirements for the tradesperson exemption. This allows toll controls to be organised so that rejections and administrative proceedings are minimised.
