Refund application: how to proceed

For journeys made within the period from 28 October 2020 to 30 September 2021, the toll rate proportion for the infrastructure costs can be refunded by submitting an application to the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG).

Refund applications should be submitted to the Federal Office for Goods Transport (BAG) from 3 November 2021 via an online platform on their website www.bag.bund.de.

Relevant toll statements are required for the application. You can download them free of charge from the Toll Collect customer portal. In the interest of data protection, no other documents can be made available.

The reason for this procedure is the new truck toll rates in Germany from 1 October 2021, which shall apply retroactively from 28 October 2020. The toll rate proportion for infrastructure costs is being reduced, while the toll rate proportion for air pollution costs is increasing. In total, the toll rates per kilometre lowers slightly depending on the emission class.

Claims may be made until the end of 2023.
